THE RETURNED and SERVICES LEAGUE OF AUSTRALIA
BALLINA RSL SUB-BRANCH ANZAC DAY 25TH April 2021
Scroll down for the timetable
06:00AM On Sunday 25th April 2021 – LIGHT UP THE DAWN.
The Ballina RSL sub-Branch encourages the public, veterans and families not attending the Dawn service to LIGHT UP THE DAWN. Light Up the Dawn was an idea which originated within the Australian community and was supported and promoted across Australia in a year of great challenge and change. As the sun peeked above the horizon, the country stood united – in uniforms or pyjamas, wearing medals, poppies and sprigs of rosemary – to let Australia’s veterans know that their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Commencing at 06:00am, Ballina radio, Paradise FM 101.9 will broadcast a short service including the ODE, LAST POST, 1 MINUTE SILENCE, and REVELLIE.
Due to limited Sub-Branch resources for management of the COVID-19 restrictions. The Dawn Service, March, Commemoration Service and Wreath Laying Ceremony are restricted to invited dignitaries and guests, Defence Force veterans, and their families.
The RSL Memorial Park will be fenced-off for COVID restrictions, and controlled access.
Laying of wreaths or floral tributes are welcome throughout the day, other than during the Dawn Service, or Service of Commemoration.
For the Dawn Service, one wreath only will be laid by the President. The Wreath Laying Ceremony during the 11:00am Service of Commemoration will involve dignitaries, service organisations, schools, public organisations, and public who have provided prior notice to the Sub-Branch office.
The march will be limited to marching veterans, and veterans in wheelchairs or electric scooters. Wheelchairs must have an able carer pushing the wheelchair. There will not be any motor vehicles for transport in the march, non-defence service organisations or schools participating in this year’s march.
Everyone attending the services and or participating in the march is required to be registered using Services NSW, Ballina RSL Sub-Branch, COVID-19 Check-In. For those with smartphones, the Ballina RSL sub-Branch COVID-19 QR codes will be displayed along the Memorial Park barricade.
For those without a smartphone, sign-in sheets to record your name and contact information, will be available at the barricade entrances. Those with smartphones can also register others as dependants when checking in. Buddy up, mates for mates, will save time and congestion.
To save delays and queueing, Sub-Branch members and Veterans intending to attend the Breakfast and or Lunch are encouraged to pre-purchase their breakfast and or lunch tickets from the sub-Branch office.
